A Brief History of Pocket Watches
In the early 1500's, innovative clockmaker Peter Henlein of Nuremberg, Germany (inventory of spring-powered clicks) was the first to make pocket watches. The first pocket watches were carried around in the hand and were made of iron. by the 1600's pocket watches were made out of other metals such as brass and steel. In 19th century America, fine pocket watches were expensive status symbols for wealthy men and women.

In the 20th century, pocket watches were an important accessory from the zoot suits in the 1930's to the three piece suits of the 1950's through to today when the pocket watch has again gained in popularity.
